SIX HOTEL LICENCES

Cook Islands Proposals (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 6. Applications for hotel licences to provide 2000 beds by 1975 in the Cook Islands were invited today by the Premier of the Cook Islands (Mr Albert Henry). His son, the Minister of Tourism (Mr Tupui Henry), who is in Auckland for an airtravel conference, said he was confident the group would have the necessary accommodation from 1972 onwards. Licences, for which there were New Zealand and local investors, would be granted. One for a down-town Rarotonga hotel sought by overseas interests would be deferred. About six licences were envisaged, one for a luxury hotel, two or three for me-dium-priced hotels and some for smaller motels scattered over the main island of Rarotonga. Applications were to be made to the Cook Islands Tourist Authority. Mr Henry later left on a visit to Australia.
