Golf “Still Booming"
An increase of 1000 in the number of active golfers in the Canterbury Provincial Golf Association’s area during the last year was reported at the annual meeting on the associa tion last evening. The president (Mr C. J. Ward! said that the addition of the Coringa Country Clu|> brought the number of clubs affiliated to the association to 35, and the number of active flayers to 7000. The increase from 6000 last year, which had come mainly from the newer clubs showed that the sport was still booming, said Mr Wood; Officers elected to the association's management committee were:—Messrs W. M. Samson (Avondale), C. J. Ward (Christchurch*. M. J. McNally (Coringa Country). G. Shrimptan (Hagley), E H M Richards (Hororata), R. A. Milne (Rangiora), S. G. H. Rich (Russley), A S. McHerron (Templeton), M. W. Atkinson (Waitikiri), C. R Weavers (Waimairi Beach), R. C. Townshend (Waimakariri Gorge), A. H. Brown (Windsor), B. C. Mclntosh (Kaiapoi), A. D Russel] (Amberley), and D. H. Lawrence (Harewood).
