Rail-Car Hits Rock
(From Our Own Reporter? GREYMOUTH, April 6. The early morning rail-car from Christchurch today struck a large rock which was lying between the lines between Mahinapua and Ruatapu, south of Hokitika. No serious damage was done but the cowcatcher was slightly dented as it rode over the rock. The rail-car was able to continue its journey to Ross after about 15 minutes. “As the rock was on a flat stretch of track, it must have been placed there deliberately, so we have put the matter in the hands of the police,” said the traffic manager of the Railways Department at Greymouth (Mr P. B. Walsh).
