Rhodesia Not Withdrawing
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) i SALISBURY. The president of the Rhodesian Lawn Tennis Association (Mr V. Godden) yesterday denied that Rhodesia would withdraw from the Davis Cup competition. The previous day, Mr A. Farmery, an official of the Rhodesian association, who is to attend an emergency meeting of the Davis Cup nations in London next week, said he had been authorised to withdraw Rhodesia indefinitely from the tournament to save the country’s international tennis friends from embarrassment; Mr Godden said: “Mr Farmery has no such directive from the association. We have no intention of withdrawing from the Davis Cup until the official committee has decided that we do so.”
