Folk Museum Of Music
A 100-year-old pianolo, a mandolin, banjos, piano rolls, l old records, and a wind-up! gramophone are the first; items in a collection being as- ’ sembled for the Canterbury ! Folk Museum of Music by a group of enthusiasts. Five of the group belong to the Blues Alley Spasm Band, which performs in Christ- ! church and other centres. The lead guitarist, Mr R. Reid,l said that several of the group had found their instruments at the rubbish tip. They realised that there must be a lot of people who threw old musical instruments and equipment out, and they i thought that this was a[ shame. So they decided to found a museum, he said. They in- . tended to put part of their | performing money aside to buy some sort of premises , where they could have the , collection on permanent dis-! play.
