PRIZE FOR AIRMAN
Melbourne Flight A former World War I airman. Mr W. F. MacPherson. of Wanaka. and his wife, have won a trip on a flight to the new Melbourne airport. Tullamarine, when it is opened ■ The trip is the prize in a competition organised by Air New Zealand for the 60 World War 1 airmen who attended the reunion of the New Zealand 1914-18 Airmen’s Association in Christchurch last week. During the reunion celebrations, the airmen toured the Royal New Zealand Air Force base at Wigram and visited the N.A.C. flight training centre and the airport control centre at Christchurch airport. The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr A. R. Guthrey) was the guest speaker at a reunion dinner at the Russley Hotel. Among the airmen was the founder of the association. Sir Leonard Isitt, a former Chief of the Air Staff and a former head of Tasman Empire Airways. Ltd. and the National Airways Corporation. The 1971 reunion will he held in Nanier and Mr F. S' ewart, of Napier, was e'ected president of the association. He will appoint his own committee M r C. .1. McFadden. of Christchurch, is the immediate past president.
