Plight Of The Farmer
Sir, —Farmers who have gone on the land in recent years have created their own problems, also rising costs, by paying prices for land far in excess of its production value. Once the farmers were rightly recognised as the backbone of the country Those days are gone. Not one member of Parliament today is concerned about the young farmers because most of them own or have owned targe areas of land which they bought at a reasonable price, or have had handed down from generation to generation. We have in our ' midst many people who have made fortunes, not by produring anything off the land, ;
