Hedge Fire At Allandale
Dense smoke from a hedge and grass fire on the property of Mr T. L. Joneo at Allandale attracted attention in Lyttelton harbour settlements on Thursday afternoon and from the Summit Road The fire broke out in a dead macrocarpa hedge about 2.30 p.m. and spread to othei dead tree stumps. Both the Governor's Bay and Lyttelton volunteer fire brigades were called out Water was used from a house hold tank and also pumped by the Lyttelton brigade from a nearby creek. The fire was brought undei control in about an hour. 1
