A contract has been let by ] a Waikato company for New 1 Zealand's first commercial ' cattle artificial breeding centre, on a 12-acre site at Puke- 1 roro. Mr K. W. Carter, the mana- ! ger of Animal Breeding Ser- 1 vices (N.Z.), Ltd, the firm establishing the centre, hopes 1 it will be in use by June. The ' buildings will have to comply ■ rigidly with Agriculture De- 1 partment regulations. The new centre will cater for semen sales within New Zealand and overseas. I A team of up to 10 bulls I will include New Zealand-bred i dairy and beef bulls, and I
Charolais bulls. Later it is expected that other overseas s breeds such as Devons from t Britain will be used at the < centre. I
