FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT ' Situation.—A shallow depression over the north-west Tasman Sea is nearly stationary; a ridge of high pressure extends from Tasmania across the south Tasman Sea and ‘New Zealand to an anticyclone centred north-east of the Chatham Islands. - Forecast: x • Canterbury.—Light to moderate southerly winds tending easterly this afternoon; cloudy with some scattered drizzle patches this morning; moderate temperatures. Buller, Westland.—Fine at first but cloud increasing during the day; light to moderate winds, westerly directions predominating: mild. Nelson, Marlborough.—Mainly fine and warm with moderate northerlies, but a change to moderate southerlies with cloudy cooler weather this afternoon. Outlook.—All districts: mainly fine and warm with some showers over the ranees.
