UNIVERSITY BUILDING
Extension Of Plans ; (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 26. Government approval was announced today for two major university building projects—extensions to the arts (faculty at the University of .Canterbury, and a new science building at Massey Unij versity. The Minister of Education (Mr Taiboys) said he had ad (vised Mr E. S. F. Holland, I member of Parliament for (Riccarton, that approval had i been given to the addition of • 12,000 sq. ft of floor space to | the buildings now being 'Planned for the University of J Canterbury arts faculty. “The additional area will increase the provision being 'made for the departments of [geography and psychology,” he said. He had also informed Mr ' L. W. Gandar, member of Parti liament for Manawatu, that a I University Grants Committee ■ recommendation for the preparation of plans for the new ■ Massey science building had I‘been approved. The building ’ will provide 38,000 sq. ft for teaching and research.
