COMMUNIST PURGE
(N.Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) ROME, February 26. The Italian Communist Party yesterday continued its purge of members opposed to the official party line, expelling four more intellectuals who had advocated militant revolutionary policies. The latest expulsions affect writers associated with the Left wing magazine "11 Manifesto,” which has openly challenged the party leadership’s policy of achieving power through parliamentary means. The three leaders of the so-called Manifesto Group, Rossana Rossanda, Luigi Pintor and Aldo Natoli, were expelled from the party last year. The control commission of the Rome Communist Federation, announcing the expulsion of the four writers today, said that they had “operated in open contrast with the duties of a militant Communist, sharing responsibility in an initiative for attacking the party, its line, and its unity.”
