ELLESMERE OUTFLOW
A novel system of controlled outflow at Lake Ellesmere which would be efficient and easy to use has been proposed by a Christchurch consulting engineer, Mr H. G Royds. Ln his report to the Canterbury Progress League last evening, Mr H. H. Deans, chairman of the irrigation, forestry and land development committee, said that Mr Royds had made a detailed survey of the lake area. Mr Deans said that he could not elaborate on the report as Mr Royds was consulting the School of Engineering of the University of Canterbury and the North Canterbury Catchment Board so * that the proposed scheme could be proved feasible. A number of imponderables had yet to be studied in greater detail, he said.
