Mare Sold For $4000
(N.Z. Press Association) The brood mares, Trecarrell and Bonny Plume, easily topped the sale of horses at Cambridge today. They were among the outside lots added to the dispersal sale of the Grasslands Stud. Trecarrell was bred in Ireland : and is from the same family as 'Le Filou. Offered by Mr K. B McKenzie, she was bought by Mr K. C. Burley, of Howick, for $4OOO. She had a filly at foot (from the English stallion. Star iGazer, and was covered by Shiffnal Easily the top price for a 'local mare was the $3700 paid for Bonny Plume, in foal to Sugar Apple. She is a halfsister by Golden Plume to Trial Offer and went to Mr R. G. Chitty, of Auckland. Other high prices were $3400 for Lady Eulogy, in foal to Minuit, paid by Mr J. W. Morris. of Cambridge: $3OOO for Watchit, a close relation to Sunbride, paid by Mr J. W. Campin, of Cambridge: and $2400 for Evana. with a filly foal by Test Case at foot and in foal to Battle Waggon, paid by Pacific Bloodstock, Ltd. Auckland. The stallion. Harleigh, was bought by the Totara Park Stud. Whangarei. for $l7OO. a price equalled for the imported brood mare Fosse Way. in foal to Sovereign Edition and bought by Mr C. M Taylor, of Auckland Other sales of more than $lOOO were: Click, with filly foal by As Before, served by Mahbub Ali. P Holden. Hastings. $l6OO Gelding, two years, by Mellay from Grey Flash. A Miller. Auckland. $l4OO Natlin. with filly foal by Even Stevens, served by Follow Suit. G. A White. New Plymouth. $l3OO Extra Nice, with filly foal by Mahbub Ali. served by Follow Suit. B Mollett, Papakura. $llOO
