Offer Of Chukor
The Southland Acclimatisation Society had offered several pairs of chukor for breeding, the chairman of the game committee (Mr G. Mugford), reported to the council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society last evening. Although it was interested in the offer, the game committee considered that inquiries should be made first to ascertain whether disease would be transferred to partridges if the two species were reared in close proximity.
The committee is seeking the opinion of Professor K. E Westerskov, of the zoology department, Otago University.
