FALLS HEAD RISES IN N.Z. Mining And Oil Shares Cheaper

Speculative issues remained the focus of attention on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, but most prices were down at the close, after lighter but active trading.

Industrials, including the leaders, were even, and movements were generally small. Trading was active again, however, and a wide range of issues changed hands at steady prices. All three New Zealand miners were easy at the close. The new Consolidated Silver rights lost 2c to 63c, while Southern Cross Min, erals fell 2c and Waihi 1c Overseas miners were mixed L and M Oil (New Zealand) closed 5c down at 245 c after unsteady trading, and Offshore fell a cent but Bounty ended the day a cent up at 22c and Beach put on 5c to close at 480 c. Few movements stood out among the industrials. South British took a further 7c loss, however, and N.Z. Forest fell 8c to 432 c. Coulls shares and Wallace notes weakened, and Crothall suffered a sharp 40c loss to 350 c. Overseas industrials were easy. Sales yesterday were: CHRISTCHURCH 900 Alliance, 95; 100 Ampol, 130, 171 A.
