MOVE TO ILAM
Teachers’ Coll. Delay Students and staff in the secondary division of the Christchurch Teachers* College have begun their year in the old premises and will not begin the move to the new buildings at Ilam until February 16. The handing over of the new buildings was behind schedule, said the registrar (Mr G. A. Hay) yesterday, and with some inconvenience it had been arranged to move the homecraft division to a section of the new buildings by the middle of this month. This would involve between 75 and 100 students and staff. “We hope to arrange the shift of the remainder of 600 at the end of the month,” he added. These would involve Division B students, consisting of those part time at university and part time at college, and Division C students who had completed a university course and were carrying out a oneyear college course. Division W students, taking wookwork and commercial courses, would move to Ham late next month. Mr Hay said that although it had originally been hoped to have the new buildings at Ilam completed by December L the difficulty of the contractor in obtaining suitable labour had been a factor in the completion of the new college buildings.
