Consumption Of Red Meat (N-Z. Pr«< Awociotton) SYDNEY, Jan. 12. - New Zealanders have gone ahead of the people of Uruguay as the world’s biggest eaten of red meat, according to an Australian Meat Board publication. New Zealand consumption has been steady at 2241 b per head since 1967. Consumption in Uruguay fell from 2271 b per head in 1967 to 2181 b in 1968, leaving New Zealand as the highest Other leading consumers were Argentina (2201 b Australia (2041 b United States (1831 b Canada (1581 b France (1501 b and Britain (1381 b New Zealand also continued to be the largest consumer of lamb and mutton in 1968 at 871 b per head. The average in 1961-65 was 1011 b. Australia was next with 841 b.
