New Leader At Vanda
(NZ f>rut Association) SCOTT BASE, Jan. 12. Mr D. R. C, Lowe, ot Auckland, the leader of the New Zealand party at Vanda Station in the Antarctic, is to return to New Zealand for personal reasons, reports a spokesman for the Antarctic Division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. Mr Lowe, who took up the position last October, would normally have wintered and returned to New Zealand next October. It is not known when he will return. Mr H. P. Lowe, of Gore, has been appointed leader at Lake Vanda to replace Mr D. R. C. Lowe. Mr H. P. Lowe, a Scotsman who came to New Zealand 20 years ago, is aged 47, and has a joinery business in Gore.
