Non-Compulsory English

Sir, —I seen this coming years ago when they stopped learning children grammar in the schools like they did when I was a hoy. Now hundreds of teachers can’t speak English proper and a like number don’t know nothing about grammar neither. Yes, things are that bad! But not to worry. As of now the Education boys in Wellington are watching out and doubtless are going to go and intend to deliberately fix it, like. I'll try to face up to,the lonliness until they join me in me padded cell. Read this slow and you’ll understand it (I hope). With-it grammatically.—Yours, etc., TREVOR W. STRINGER. December 7, 1969.
