Children’s Court Orders Restitution Of $703

Restitution amounting to ,437 <raa ordered to bo paid by a IS-year-old boy when he anpwed betore the ChlWren’a Court in August on charges of wilful damage and obscene language. He was fined 34. Restitution totalling 3265.4 S was ordered in respect of offences comm-ltted by other young persons appearing before the Court. „ On a charge of taking a motor-cycle a boy «4W« id was placed on probation for ?wc yla?“ and ordered to make restitution of 395. Probation for one year WM ordered for a boy aged IS charged with disorderly behaviour. Four children, aged from seven week® to five y«a”.,®Vpeartng on. a complaint that &y were, indigent were committed to the care of the Child Welfare Department as were a girt aged 15 and a boy aged 14 found to be not under proper control. Charged with common assault and indecent assault a bov aged 13 was also committed to'the care of the department. Charged with thrtt a boy seed 14 was placed under Child Wlfare Department supervision for two years and ordered to make restitution of $lOO. A girt, of the same age. charged with theft and appearing also on a complaint that she was not under proper control, was placed under supervision for is months. Three W«. to 15 years, charged with theft, were placed under supervision for one year, to <w>e case restitution of 339.46 being ordered. Three boys aged 14 and 15 years, charged with burglary, received one year’s supervision and in one case restitution of JB3 was ordered. Also placed under supervision for one year were a boy aged 13 who unlawfully took a motor-car. a boy aged 15 charged with indecent assault and theft, a boy aged 15 appearing on a complaint that he was not under proper control, a girl aged 15 who escaped from lawful custody and assaulted a constable ('also fined $3O) and a ba by. aged two months who was deemed to be an indigent child. Extension of the current supervision order by six months was ordered in the case of a boy aged 12 charged with theft. Restitution of 34 was also ordered. Five chfldron. their ages ranging from six to 12 years, who appeared on complaints that they were not under proper control, were admonished and discharged, as were seven boys aged from 13 to 16 years, charged with theft. Similarly dealt with were a boy aged 16 who discharged a firearm tn a public place and used obscene language, a boy aged 12 charged with disorderly behaviour, two boys aged 12 found unlawfully in a building, a boy aged 16 who used obscene language, a boy aged 13 charged with assault and conversion of a bicycle, and a boy aged 16 who purchased liquor. Charged with escaping from lawful custody, six girts aged from 13 to 16 years, were admonished and returned to the care of the superintendent of the Child Welfare Department, as were two boys aged 14—one for unlawfully taking a bicycle, and the other for burglary and disorderly behaviour. A girl, aged 15. charged with burglary, false pretences and forgery was dealt with iin a similar fashion. Fines were imposed as follows:—A boy aged 15, obscene language; $l5; a boy aged 16. minor purchasing liquor, 34; a girt aged 16. assault and obscene language, 335; a boy aged 16, a minor in possession of liquor, $4; a boy aged 15. theft, 325 (restitution ss>: two boys aged 15 and 16 charged with

possessing liquor. 34 each; a boy aged 16, theft, 350; a boy aged I®, drinking liquor in a public place. 312; a boy aged 16, dangerous driving. 320 (licence cancelled one year, endorsed one year); a boy aged 16, minor purchasing liquor, $6; a boy aged 16, obscene language in a public place, $18; a boy aged 16, minor purchasing liquor. 315; and a boy aged W. theft. 320.
