Old Mare Has Foal
Marie Scott foaled a colt by Rodney Day yesterday morning.! It is the first foal the 26-year* old mare has had since 1965. when she left a filly by Court Martial. Marie Scott gained fame as the dam of Durban Chief, one ofj the top trotters in New Zealand; before being sold to the United States, where he won close to 50 races, many of them being minor events at second-class meetings. Even so, he took a record of. about 2min Isec at Yonkers Raceway. Marie Scott, now owned by Mr D. Clark, of Christchurch, will be mated again with Rodney Day. Coronation Morn, which has failed to produce a foai since she left Hal View to Hal Tryax in 1962, is due to foal soon to Rodney Day. Coronation Morn, foaled in 1951. is also the dam of First View. Chief View and Dim View. She. too, will return to Rodney Day.
