Australia’s Jobless
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CANBERRA, Oct 13. The number of job vacancies in Australia exceeded the number of unemployed by 5815 in* September. This Was the first time since October, 1966, that vacancies had outnumbered registered unemployed. On a seasonally-adjusted basis, however, the vacancies were 4087 below the number of registered unemployed. The Minister of Labour and National Service (Mr Leslie Bury), who released the figures today, said that the number of unemployed at the end of September dropped by 3799 to 41,121, and the number of vacancies rose by 4337 to 46,736.
