DO-IT-YOURSELF SHOWROOM
The opening of a new type of showroom was attended last evening by nearly 100 members of the Christchurch Club of Printing House Craftsmen. It was the demonstration showroom of the printing machinery division of A. M. Satterthwalte and Company, Ltd, where prospective customers will be able to try new presses themselves, and where the company will later hold special training courses for apprentices from Christchurch and from other centres.
Mr R. M. Satterthwaite said last evening that printers would be able to bring their own plates to the showroom and print them on the new machines. They could not only see them working; they could make them ready and use them. Later, said Mr Satterthwaite, printing firms would be invited to release their apprentices for two, three or fourday courses in the showroom. Specialised training would be given in new methods and in the use of the latest equipment. The photograph shows Mr Satterthwaite (second from the left) with three members of the printing club. From the left they are Messrs G. Neale, M. Whiteside (president) and R. Stewart Behind the group is a $20,000 Heidelberg printing press.
