Fendalton Road Widening Plans
The chairman at the Waimain County Council (Mr D. B. Rich) has advised prospective buyers or sellers of property in Fendalton Road not to commit themselves until they have consulted road-wid-ening plans. Mr Rich said yesterday he understood there was confusion in some people’s minds about the Fendalton Road widening between Hagley Park and Clyde Road. Anyone who wanted to buy or sell a property in this area could get advice at the county council office about the exact amount of widening in front of each property and when it was likely to occur. Broadly speaking the council intended to widen the section of Fendalton Road between the park and the railway crossing within the next year or two. It would be at least 10 years before the section between the railway line and Clyde Road would be widened. In anticipation of widening the road between the park and railway the council has moved back trees and shrubs on properties affected.
