Golf Title-holders With New Partners
(New Zealand Preet AtiaciaUonl NELSON. Last year’s winners of the New Zealand men’s amateur foursomes golf championship have taken new partners for the 1969 contest to be played on the Tahunanui links today.
The experienced international, J. D. Durry (Paraparaumu Beach), is paired with 8.. C. Rafferty (Hutt), the youngster who made a tremendous impression in Australia at his first appearance for New Zealand last month. G. C. Stevenson (Waikare), who partnered Durry to success last year, will this time play with B. Day (Kaikohe), who was runner-up for the
amateur championship in Auckland last year. Four other New Zealand internationals have teamed in formidable combinations—S. G. Jones (Hastings), and R. C. Murray, and B. A. Stevens (Titinngi), who took the amateur title last year, and E. J. McDougall (Tokoroa). The foursomes championship will be played today, and the two qualifying rounds for the amateur championship will be played tomorrow and Wednesday. The top 32 will qualify for the matchplay.
