570 Registered In August (H.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 21. During August 570 new companies were registered in. New Zealand, according to the Registrar of Companies. In August last year 461 new companies were registered. The total nominal capital of the companies is 84,342,298 and four companies have capital in excess of $250,000 each. The statement, released today, said that during July 16 companies went in receivership and nine receivers ceased acting. In August, 1968 17 companies went in receivership and 16 receivers ceased acting. Eight companies were reported to be the subject of Court orders to wind up and 29 went into voluntary liquidation in August. In the same month last year nine companies were ordered to wind up and 26 went into voluntary liquidation. Eighty-seven companies were dissolved during the month either by liquidations being completed or by their names being struck off the register compared with 94 companies in the same period last year.

Canterbury Well Is 255 ft Deep (N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 21. I New Zealand Petroleum Exploration Company, Ltd, and the BP-Sheil-Todd Exploration Consortium advise that at their J. S. George No. 1 well in the Canterbury Basin, a 26in hole has been drilled to a depth of 255 ft and 20in casing has been set to a depth of 222 ft.

N.L., said today that the B.OC. of Australia, Ltd, the operator for the group, had drilled the Madeleine No 1 well to a depth of 13.228 ft. Hydrocarbon shows continued to be encountered from drilling through thin interbeds of sandstone.
