STRIKE ENDS

(NZ.P.A-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS, Sept 21. Traffic moved freely in Paris last night for the first time this week, as the strikebound public transport system began to return to normal. Metro (underground) and bus services had been badly hit by a series of strikes over the last five days. But transport management officials and union negotiators

reached a provisional agreement on easier working hours on Friday night. Metro services improved during the day, although some lines were still without trains, and bus routes were carrying about 65 per cent of their normal traffic. The Paris public transport stoppages came soon after a' nation-wide strike by train; drivers. This strike took nine' days, and 30 hours of negotiations, to settle.
