“Scott On ...”

Sir,—l am heartily sick of moans from self-righteous people about late night televiewing. If they think a programme too low for their intelligence, why not switch it off after the first offensive part, rather than leave it, on all through and then indignantly complain to everybody? Any child watching television this late during holidays could well be playing Monopoly and such other “oldfashioned” pastimes instead of being glued to the television during times that the programmes are suited for adult (broadminded) enters tainment Remedy for moaners: switch off after the news! —Yours, etc., MONOPOLY FAN. September 18, 1969.

Sir,—On my television set I have a knob which will turn my set on, or, in the case of a programme I do not like, I am able to turn it off. I wonder if “Disgusted Parent” turned his or her set off or watched “Scott On ... ” until the bitter end. Most of Mr Scott’s remarks could be taken two ways, and I wonder if it was his remarks or the mind of “Disgusted Parent” that needs censoring. —Yours, etc., SCOTT FAN. September 18, 1969. [This correpsondence is now closed.—Ed., “The Prws.”]
