PIPE BANDS ASSN
Life Members Elected i Mr V. J. Nicholson, of Pal-> merston North, the past-presi-dent of the Highland Pipe Bands Association of New Zealand, and Mr D. W. Robinson, of Dunedin, a past South Island vice-president, were elected life members of the association at its national annual conference and meeting in Christchurch on Saturday. During the conference it was decided that the 1971 Dominion Pipe Band championships would be held in Dunedin, probably in March. The judges for next year’s championships in Wellington were appointed as follows: Music: Messrs A McAuley (Whangarei), A. Guild (Wellington) and E. Boyle (Christchurch); drumming, Mr I. Levy (Wellington); drummajors, dress and staff flourishing, Messrs G. Hibbert (Wellington) and A. Millar and A. Souter (Christchurch); drill, Messrs J. 1. Carriock, J. T. Hibbert, M. Colebourne, H. L. Kitney, R Preston and R. Wallace (Wellington), and R L. Bond and J. Ryan (Palmerston North); timekeepers, Misses R. MacKenzie and A E. Mac Lean; pace judges, Messrs H. R. Pickering and J. Sutherland.
Officers elected at the annua] meeting were:—Patron, Mr C. S. Thomas (Christchurch); president, Mr T. A Gordon (Christchurch); North .Island vice-president, Mr G Hibbert (Wellington), South Island vice-president, Mr P. Anderson (Invercargill); deputy-president, Mr E. Boyle (Christchurch); immediate past-president, Mr V. J Nicholson (Palmerston North).
