High Standard In Pony Events At Kaiapoi Jumping Show

An especially high standard was seen in events for ponies of 13.9 to 14.2 hands at the annual Kiaiapoi Jumping Show, held on the property of Mr P. M. Moore, Island Bead, on Saturday. Entries totalled 470, an increase on last year. Conditions were most pleasant with a light nor’westerly wind and a firm grass surface, made easier by the recent rain. The course planner was Mrs D. Youngman. The Unity Cup, for riders under .14, was won by Miss Annette Moore, a granddaughter of the donor, Mrs K. Bice, and Kalapol member. The Fleetwing Challenge Cup for the pony gaining most points was won equally by J. Turner's Tango (Biecarton-Fendalton Club), B. Jury's Acker Bilk (Kalapol), and S. Montgomery’s Sansl (Rle-carton-Fendalton Club). The Harris Challenge Cup for the horse gaining most points in jumping events was won equally by Miss A. Hudson's and Mrs J. Jefferies’ Gypsy.
