KAPUNI GAS CONVERSION
Auckland Cost $350,000
KN-Z. Press Association! AUCKLAND, August 25. The Auckland Gas Company expects to spend at least $350,000 to convert appliances to burn natural gas. The conversion programme will affect 25,000 domestic consumers, with the company carrying the full cost.
The company’s natural gas project engineer, Mr A. Veart, said today that many consumers would be encouraged to replace their existing appliances because of the high cost of converting them for natural gas.
Only a very small percentage of appliances was not convertible, and this was
mainly because they are worn out. The problem of appliances which it would not be practicable to convert was not one of age but of cost.
