The Transport Amendment Bill was introduced and read a first time when Parliament resumed yesterday afternoon. The Clark Adoption Bill was given a second reading.
The annual report of the Marine Department was tabled. Ministers answered 12 questions. Mr M. A. Connelly (Lab., Rlccarton) presented the petition of John Wallace Birt and John Stephen O’Connell, employed by the Ministry of Works, Sockburn, seeking adjustment of wages to include the 5c hourly payable for indentured labour. On the recommendation of the Commerce Committee, the House rejected the Explosives Amendment Bill, introduced by the Government last year.
Urgency was taken on the discussion of five classes of Estimates.
