Daimio Works Attractively
“The Press” Special Service | FOXTON. Daimio and Cbeville ran the best gallops at Foxton yesterday morning and both look ready for bold efforts in the Barber Hack Handicap and the Price Hurdles, respectively, on the course tomorrow. Plain and Tawbai also completed a useful trial on the course proper. Gallops took place on the extreme outside and the ground was cutting out. If there is no rain before Saturday the going should be no worse than easy. Daimio and Kaiponu kept together from the five, but Daimio. which was at a weight disadvantage, drew out tn the last furlong to win by three lengths. Kaiponu stopped in the run home and Daimio took Imin 6 2-ssec. the last three in 39 4-5 sec. This was a good effort by Daimio. which seems all the better for his race at Carterton. Chevllle worked from the mile and speeded up to run her last six furlongs tn Imin 22 2-5 sec. the final three in 41 2-ssee. This was an attractive trial. Chevllle seems improved by her race at Levin. She will be hard to beat in the Hack Hurdles tomorrow. Tawbai and Plain kept level throughout a round and ran their last six furlongs in Imin 24sec. the final three in 43sec. Plain has benefited from his matinee run on Tuesday. He and Tawbai both have good form to recommend them for the Awahou Hack Handicap.
