Parliament’s Diary
Notice of reorganisation in defence matters was given by the Minister of Defence (Mr Thomson) when Parliament resumed yesterday afternoon. The St Joseph’s Burial Ground Bill, Tauranga City Council Empowering Bill and Wellington Harbour Reclamation Amendment Bill were each read a third time and passed. The Clarke Adoption Bill and the Auckland (Ngataringa Bay) Empowering Bill were each read a first time. Second readings were given the Manawatu Patriotic Society Bill and the Clutha County Empowering Bill, The General Wage Orders Bill was reported back by the Labour Committee without amendment. Ministers answered 11 questions. The New Zealand Security Intelligence Bill committal debate was concluded. The House continued to discuss other legislation, including the committal of the Shipping and Seamen Amendment Bill (No. 2).
