Gave Peace A Chance
Spectators at the New Zealand Universities winter tournament at Dunedin on Wednesday were surprised when the Canterbury and Victoria Rugby league sides took the field and sang the pop song, “Give Peace A Chance,” instead of the usual three cheers. Their game came imme-
diately after a 54111 draw between Otago and Auckland, which was marred by continual fighting. The Canterbury and Victoria teams took the words x of the song to heart and played the only league match of the tournament entirely free from incident. Canterbury won, 27-6.
