Soviet Navy Deployment
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, Aug. 21. The Soviet Union has more than 125 ships in foreign waters, the largest deployment yet observed, according to the Pentagon. The total includes about 100 surface ships and possibly more than 25 submarines. There are about 40 Russian ships in the Atantic, 15 in the Pacific, 10 in the Indian Ocean and nearly 65 in the Mediterranean. The highest previous total of Russian ships in foreign waters was 120, observed in October, 1968.
