PROPERTY AUCTIONS
Farm Passed In A 50-acre West Melton farm was passed in at $25,000 when it was offered at public auction yesterday. The property, situated on Rolleston and Findlays Roads, West Melton, has a Government valuation of $18,900. A new, three-bedroomed brick bungalow is on the property, which is all in pasture. Bidding started at $20,000 and rose by four bids of $lOOO and two of $5OO to the passing price. The auctioneer was Mr W. W. Wood, of Wood and Cathcart, Ltd. A Merivale section of 25.9 perches, at 60 Hewitts Road, was sold for $7300 when it was offered for sale at auction. The Government valuation of the property, on which is an old wooden house, is $4650. The auctioneer was Mr D. O. Chapman, of Ford and Hadfield, Ltd. No biff was received for a four-bedroomed, two-storey house on a 20.6 perch section at 18 Strickland Street, Somerfield, when it was offered at auction. The Government valuation of the property is $6300. The auctioneer was Mr G. B. Harty of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd.
