$200 Fine For Assault
(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, July 29. A man was fined $2OO in the Gisborne Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of assault. Mr W. M. Willis, S.M., ordered that $75 be paid to the complainant. Tipene Tamatea, aged 18, pleaded not guilty to the charge. Police witnesses said Tamatea walked up to the complainant, who was a stranger, and struck him several times in the face. When asked about the matter by a constable Tamatea just laughed. Tamatea said in evidence that he had been drinking and could not remember the incident.
, Man Unconscious.—A 21-year-old man, Paul Stafford, of Kelburn, is still unconscious in Wellington Hospital six weeks after Ms motorcycle was involved in a collision with a car.—(P.A.)
