MEETING OF COUNCILS
Power Supply Questions Councils in and round Christchurch which trade in electricity will meet on August 19 for informal discussions on their views as a preliminary to the Electricity Distribution Commission’s investigation of area supplies.
The meeting has been called by the Riccarton Borough Council, and will also be attended by members of the City Council (representing the Municipal Electricity Department), the Kaiapoi, Lyttelton and Rangiora borough councils and the Heathcote County Council.
“It will be a private gettogether, with no set agenda,” said the Town Clerk of Riccarton (Mr R. A. E. Upston) yesterday. “We would all like to know what is in the other councils’ minds, and this could clear the air when it comes to discussions with the commission.”
