Misconduct Rule
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Two measures affecting ownertrainers and licensed trainers were passed at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Racing Conference yesterday. The Hawke’s Bay District Committee succeeded with a remit making it possible for clubs to discipline owner-trainers for misconduct. Previously Rule 89 provided for a fine or suspension to be imposed on holders of licences or certificates in the event of misconduct, but this category did not include owner-trainers. It now provides the same penalties for them in the case of a breach of the misconduct rule. A rule covering the publication of the names of owners and trainers in race books, was amended for the second successive year. One effect of a 1968 amendment was that licensed trainers were required to be named as part-owners where this was applicable. Yesterday’s alteration removed this requirement and where a licensed trainer is a part-owner, from August 1 it will not be necessary to notify this in the race book.
