Divers Fail To Find Trawler

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, July 4. Police divers have failed to find the lost fishing trawler Provider. They had thought that a metal object located earlier this week off Houghton Bay, Wellington, by the Marine Department’s lighthouse tender Enterprise, might be the Provider.

The Enterprise, equipped with a magnetometer, has been sweeping the area where the boat was thought to have foundered six weeks ago. A number of small metal objects have been found, but only one which would correspond to anything like the size of the missing vessel. The owner of the Provider (Mr J. R. Jurie) needs confirmation that the ship has been lost before the underwriters will pay out a $75,000 claim.
