Prevention Of Fire

The Christchurch High School board of gover nors was advised on Thursdaj that the Department of Edu cation had made a grant of $6500 to cover the cost of fird prevention work at the school The headmaster (Mr C. E S. Caldwell) explained that the Ministry of Works had in< spected the school and laid down certain requirements. These would necessitate more fire doors along open corridors, partitions in the ceiling, provision of connect* ing doors between certain classrooms, and escape win. dows.
