Otago Leading Basketball
(N.Z. Press Association) GORE. Otago established its claim for another title win in the first day’s play of the South Island women’s indoor basketball championships yesterday. It scored three comfortable wins. Results were:—Otago 78, Eastern Southland 28; Canterbury 78, Otago Juniors 26; Nelson 82, Eastern Southland 26; Otago 108. Otago Juniors 27; Canterbury 36; Southland 29; Otago 67. Nelson 42; Southland 46, Eastern Southland 28.
Tennis Problem.—A meeting in London of Davis Cup-playing tennis nations agreed to defer discussion on the South African apartheid problems until the annual meeting of the International Lawn Tennis Federation in Prague next Wednesday.
