The value of all building permits issued in May, 1969, was $32.2m, compared with) $27.6m in May, 1968, and $30.3m during May, 1967, said the Government Statistician I (Mr J. V. T. Baker). For the trwo months ended May 31,1969, the value of all building permits issued was $63.2m, compared with $47.9m for the equivalent period of 1968, and $55.4m for AprilMay, 1967.
Permits for 2032 new houses and flats, with an aggregate value of Sl7m, were issued in May, 1969. This compared with 1839 permits with a value of $14.4m in May, 1968, and 1749 permits with a value of $13.2m in May, 1967. For new buildings, other than houses and flats, 138 permits were issued in May, 1969, for a value of $5.9m (119 permits for a value of $3.7m in May, 1968, and 154 permits for buildings valued at $7.4m In May, 1967).
There were 1690 new dwellings completed during May, 1969 (1923 in May, 1968, and 2131 in May, 1967). According to notifications received, 162 dwellings were demolished in May. 1969 (140 in May, 1968, and 133 in May, 1967).
