Rugby Player Dies

A member of the Lincoln College senior Rugby team, lan David Turner, aged 22, collapsed and died while returning to the dressing sheds after a training session at the college grounds on Wednesday afternoon. Efforts by a staff member and a doctor to resuscitate him failed. A post-mortem examination was held yesterday.

Mr Turner was In his second year of a diploma course in agriculture. A prop forward in the college team, he had scored his first try in senior Rugby last Saturday. Mr Turner’s younger brother. Grant, who is in his first year at Lincoln College, flew home to his mother in Auckland yesterday. Originally from Tokoroa, Mr lan Turner played for Auckland Grammar School before entering Lincoln College.
