Inter-School Sports
Burnside High School won seven of the 10 events and retained the Robert Findlay Cup in its annual winter sports tournament with Taieri High School at Burnside.
Results were:— Boys.—Rugby: Burnside 8, Taieri 6. Hockey: Burnside 5, Taieri 3. Soccer: Burnside 2, Taieri 1. Indoor basketball: Taieri 43, Burnside 27.
Girls.—Basketball: Burnside A 34, Taieri A 16; Taieri B 27, Burnside B 7. Indoor basketball: Burnside 37, Taieri 19. Hockey: Burnside 6, Taieri 0. A chess tournament was won by Burnside, 16-0, and a debate oh the subject: "That the present moon exploration is justifiable’’ was won by Taieri, 292 to 290. P. Lineham (Burnside) was judged the best speaker. Results of the tournament between Riccarton High School and Wellington High School at Riccarton were:—
Boys.—Rugby: Riccarton 24, Wellington 6. Hockey: Wellington 12, Riccarton 0. Indoor basketball: Wellington 37, Riccarton 18.
Girls.—Basketball: Riccarton A 21, Wellington A 1: Wellington B 21, Riccarton B 7. Hockey: Riccarton 7, Wellington 0. Indoor basketball: Riccarton IS, Wellington 15.
