Writ Served On Minister

AUCKLAND, July 3.
A writ claiming $30,000 for alleged defamation has been served on the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) on behalf of an Auckland trade unionist. The writ has been filed in the Supreme Court at Wellington by an Auckland solicitor acting on behalf of the president' of the Auckland Freezing Workers’ Union (Mr F. E. Barnard). Mr Barnard, besides claiming damages asks, from Mr Shand, a retraction of a statement published after a freezing industry dispute early, in March.
