Formed
A stock trading company unique to New Zealand has been formed in Christchurch.
The firm, Stock Options (N.Z.), Ltd, with a capital of $lO,OOO, has been formed to facilitate stock option trading in New Zealand. The company will trade in options in New Zealand and overseas shares. Before the formation of this company options in overseas shares had to be referred through overseas companies, and there was no market for options in New Zealand shares. The managing director of the new company is Mr E. J. Harries, formerly of Los Angeles, who had 20 years experience in the security business in both New York and Los Angeles. Mr Harries has also worked for several major brokers in the United States, and has been living in Christchurch for about nine months. The other directors are Mr Gerald O’Farrell, formerly of San Salvador and Mr G. M. Walker, of Christchurch.
