DISMISSAL OF APPEAL

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 16. The Court of Appeal today dismissed an appeal by Michael Shane Hand against his conviction on two counts of theft. In the Supreme Court at Auckland on May 9 Hand was found guilty by a jury of stealing 30 Romney ewes and 41 Romney-Border Leicester ewes, worth a total of $449. Mr Justice North imposed a sentence of six months imprisonment on each count, to be served concurrently, together with a fine of $lOOO. In the Court of Appeal Mr G. A. Little appeared for Hand and the Crown was represented by Mr R. C. Savage. The court comprised the Chief Justice (Sir Richard Wild), Mr Justice Turner and Mr Justice McCarthy.
